Rickman, Shmickman...

This bike won the best of show at Rockerbox this year and there is no doubt that this beautiful Rickman Honda cb750 is deserving of the title. That is, until i heard that the guy who owns it has yet to even start the bike after its restoration. Bikes were made to be ridden, not whatever you do with that thing. Best of show no mo...

Friends.

I've got some good ones.

Mongol General: Conan! What is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.
Mongol General: That is good! That is good.

Thanks.

Project xs400 - Cafe Racer

This is my xs400 cafe. A little inspiration supplied by me. I'm honestly almost done, honestly. Although I have made some changes since I took these crappy pictures with my phone. I know they say that you're never really done with these kinds of things and with vintage bikes thats often true, but I've decided to forgo the front suspension swap and move on to my new project. I'll let that one loose soon. Sketches will be the next thing that I post on the new bike.

I'll take some better photos in a few weeks.

Rockerbox 2011

Well, I wasn't going to miss two years in a row, now was I...

A few months ago, I formulated a plan. Well, more like sketches of a plan that I let rattle around this empty head of mine for a while. The plan was simple, or at least seemed simple in my head when it first appeared. I was going to go to Rockerbox, back home in Milwaukee, that was a given. My plan however, included a few things. I would fly to Milwaukee with a one way ticket. Then, once there, I would pick up the sv650 that I would have already found, had a friend check out and agreed to buy. Then I would have a really fun night, drink a ton and wake up feeling great. The next morning meet up with my friends and ride to Rockerbox. See some rad bikes, have a great day, drink a ton and wake up feeling great. The next day, I would check the bike over, see my family, relax and rest up for the long ride from Milwaukee to Austin.

I dont know how, but almost all of that actually happened. Here's my proof.

My old 350f!

3 days, 1,600 miles...

That's not all...

Did I mention it was through torrential downpours and 110 degree heat? It was a trip for sure. I saw some amazing things from the seat of my sv650. Unfortunately, it was mostly bad weather. Regardless, it was a trip that I'm glad I made. A long trip like the one I took, taken alone like I did, taught me a lot. I, as you would imagine, had a lot of time to think about my life and contemplate some of things that I've done and some of the things that I have left to do. It's weird, but even at 90 miles per hour, life seemed to slow down for me. I needed it.

East Side Classic 2011

It was actually really great and I'm excited to see how it will grow in 2012....

I really can't imagine what I would have done without the help of all my friends and sponsors of this years event. This being the first real push to increase the scale of the event, at most times I felt like I was in way over my head. We had to claw our way through the planning of the event and got bailed out of some pretty awful situations by some amazing people, Thankfully, the event went off without a hitch and everyone who came, really seemed to have a great time, even if it was hotter'n a burnt boot. All and all, it turned out better than I ever thought possible. I hope to see you all there next year...seriously. Come.

Sorry for the late entry...

Here are some pics from the event.

Viva La Motos

A few posts back, I wrote about the photo shoot that a few friends and I took part in. Well, the first draft of the photos got posted to Jimmy's flicker page and I must admit they look great. Keep in mind there will be more to come, but if this first set is any indicator, the rest will be no less amazing. If you're in the Austin area and require the help of an amazing photographer, let me know and I'll get you in touch with the one responsible for these. All right reserved on the photos, blah, blah, blah...

Thanks again Jimmy.
